Women’s Treatment Program
Professional Treatment Services, LLC offers gender-specific groups focusing on increasing positive lifestyle changes for women affected by the dual diagnosis of PTSD and substance abuse. Professional Treatment Services, LLC will provide services focused on the proven effects of substance abuse on the neurochemistry, beliefs, and relationships women hold. The staff will provide education on self-soothing techniques, relapse prevention, healthy coping skills, and developing a sense of safety.
Our staff uses information from The Serenity Model, as well as Seeking Safety, a treatment manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse developed by Lisa M. Najavits in order to provide clients with a well-rounded base of information on substance abuse and trauma. Women are taught recovery from PTSD and substance abuse is possible by focusing on safety. Safety is an umbrella term that signifies discontinuing substance use, reducing suicidality, minimizing exposure to HIV risk, letting go of dangerous relationships, and stopping self-harm behaviors. This type of integrated treatment is recommended for the dual diagnosis. Staff will use cognitive, behavioral, and interpersonal interventions in order to encourage women to commit to action-based change.
