Chemical and/or Behavioral Addiction Services

The clinical staff at Professional Treatment Services incorporates innovative, research based interventions in the treatment of addiction to maximize recovery success. We believe that by providing our clients with the most up to date and relevant education about addiction, recovery and relapse prevention our clients are able to develop new personal insights which enhance their ability to eliminate or modify pathological behavioral responses. Utilizing a client-oriented approach to assessment and treatment planning, we develop and implement a personal recovery plan that the client can use toward the restoration of their biological, psychological, social and spiritual health and toward the improvement of their overall quality of life.

Assessment

Our highly proficient staff utilizes assessment criteria established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) in determining the most accurate treatment recommendations for our clients. Our comprehensive assessments include both subjective and objective screening methods with specific attention to the following areas:

  • longevity and severity of substance use

  • contributing or complicating biomedical conditions

  • presence of co-occurring emotional and cognitive conditions

  • motivation to change

  • prognosis for relapse and

  • intensity of environmental stress

In addition to offering assessment services to individuals seeking treatment, we also provide court mandated assessments, impaired professional assessments, and fitness for duty and character and fitness assessments. Assessment services are provided as scheduled through our front desk.

Adult Treatment Services

Level I Outpatient Treatment and Level II Intensive Outpatient Treatment
The client’s recommended duration and intensity of treatment services is determined using American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria described above. Professional Treatment Services provides two general treatment structures including Level I Outpatient Treatment and Level II Intensive Outpatient Treatment. Both treatment structures include group, individual and family counseling. Clients participating in Level I treatment will attend less than nine total hours of treatment per week. Clients participating in Level II treatment will attend between 9 and 20 total hours of treatment per week. Each group treatment session consists of three hours of group services per day. Within the three hours of group, two hours are devoted to psycho-social skill building including education about relapse prevention, emotional regulation and 12-Step work. The third hour of each treatment session is devoted to insight oriented process and is also aimed at rehearsing newly learned recovery skills. Clients participating in either Level I or Level II treatment will also be seen individually by one of our clinicians on a weekly basis throughout their primary treatment process. Individual sessions are focused on development and implementation of an individualized treatment plan, continuous assessment of an individual’s progress in recovery and in helping the client identify and eliminate barriers to recovery.
We offer a variety of scheduling options for adults participating in our addictions treatment programs. Services are offered Monday through Friday in the afternoon from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and in the evenings from 5:15 PM to 8:00 PM. Adult treatment services are also offered each Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. An individual’s treatment schedule is determined through consideration of the client’s recommended treatment needs, the client’s scheduling needs and the current group sizes at the time the client is seeking admission to treatment.

Level 0.5 Alcohol & Drug Information School
Level 0.5 is one of the least intensive treatment interventions available and is designed for individuals who have experienced minor consequences related to the use of intoxicating substances. This service is aimed at providing the client with appropriate education to enhance the client’s ability to prevent further consequences related to their use of intoxicating chemicals.  Level 0.5 Alcohol and Drug Information School is offered one time monthly, typically on the last Saturday of the month, and consists of 8 hours of education in a group setting. Professional Treatment Services can accommodate individuals requiring more than 8 hours of Level 0.5 Alcohol & Drug Information School. We request that in those cases the client call to make special arrangements.

Treatment Services for the Family

Our clinical staff recognizes that the effects of substance use and other compulsive behaviors reach far beyond the individual experiencing the addiction and impact the people who are close to them. Family members and friends often have an intimate understanding of the trauma of addiction. Our treatment program is designed to introduce family recovery concepts so that everyone can begin to enjoy the quality of life that recovery offers.

Please join us for family night on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. PTS offers a six week curriculum which includes education related to addiction, recovery, relapse prevention, family dynamics, building healthy relationships, and effective communication techniques as well as an introduction to 12-Step programming including Al-Anon. Additionally, our staff is able to provide individual family counseling and couples counseling as scheduled.

Continuing Care Services

Research indicates that clients who complete one year of Continuing Care services following the completion of their primary treatment process have a substantially greater ability to sustain long-term recovery. To that end, Professional Treatment Services strongly recommends Continuing Care services for all clients who successfully complete their primary treatment episode. Professional Treatment Services offers six different Continuing Care groups on a weekly basis to facilitate our clients’ diverse scheduling needs. Upon completion of your primary treatment process your counselor will facilitate your admission to one of our Continuing Care groups. We make every attempt to keep our treatment groups small and intimate so under normal circumstances we do not want any one group to exceed 10 active participants.

Adolescent Treatment Services

Professional Treatment Services offers outpatient treatment for adolescents ages 13 through 17 who are experiencing substance use related problems. The adolescent program is directed and operated by our highly qualified and experienced professionals including Duane Olberding,
